50 Years Old and Still Plenty of Drive
A Testament to SEW-EURODRIVE’s Durability
After nearly 50 years of continuous service in a demanding paper manufacturing facility, one of SEW-EURODRIVE’s K160 gear units was finally brought in for a checkup. Decades of non-stop operation had taken their toll on some components, but the results were nothing short of impressive.
While the seals and bearings naturally needed replacing, the gears themselves were found in pristine condition and were able to be reused. Even more remarkable, the original paint on the gear unit had withstood 50 years of exposure to dirt, dust, and debris. Repainting wasn’t even necessary.
“The inside was immaculate,” said Jim Scruggs, a Test/Inspect/Assembler at SEW-EURODRIVE’s Large Industrial Gear facility in Lyman, South Carolina. Scruggs, who has been with SEW-EURODRIVE for 25 years, expressed his pride in the quality of the product. “I feel honored to work for a company that sells a product that, after nearly 50 years, still looks like it was just built. All we did was freshen it up.”
The K160 gear unit was restored and returned to the customer, proving once again the exceptional durability and reliability of SEW-EURODRIVE’s components. This is yet another example of how SEW-EURODRIVE delivers on its promise of robust, long-lasting solutions that stand the test of time—decade after decade.
Whether in demanding paper manufacturing or any other challenging industrial environment, SEW-EURODRIVE continues to set the standard for performance and longevity, providing customers with peace of mind and minimizing downtime for years to come.
Still going strong. Still SEW-EURODRIVE.
